IDEF 2019: Contracts close for Aselsan's new naval weapon system

A contract could be just around the corner for a new short-range naval air defence system as Aselsan unveiled  its Close In Weapon System (CIWS) in the presence of government representative Ismail Demir, president of Turkish Defence Industry, during IDEF 2019.

Aselsan’s CIWS does not yet have a buyer, but the company is currently in negotiations with the Turkish Ministry of Defence. Announcements expected to be made within ‘the next few months’ according to Dinçer Nalbantoğlu, programme manager for the Aselsan CIWS.
