General Dynamics to modernise USS New York
The San Antonio-class landing platform dock USS New York (LPD 21) is to undergo scheduled docking selected restricted availability with General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia.
Under a $138.55 million contract from Naval Sea Systems Command, the company will provide personnel and resources to conduct maintenance, modernisation and repair activities until June 2022.
USS New York was built as part of the Flight I construction programme for the San Antonio class. The final two ships are due for delivery in 2021 and 2023 respectively, according to Shephard Defence Insight.
