French Navy champions maritime security in Pacific

As the only European nation with a permanent naval presence in Asia-Pacific, the French Navy takes maritime security in the region seriously.

FS Vendemiaire, a 2,950t light patrol frigate of the French Navy, arrived in Hong Kong for a five-day port call on 26 February. When questioned about France's position on the South China Sea territorial disputes the ship's commanding officer, Cdr Alexandre Blonce, told Shephard that France is committed to essential freedom of navigation according to international laws.
