Euronaval: Sagem takes threat of piracy head-on
Sagem is offering a new integrated anti-piracy system for merchant shipping in which all sensors and effectors are controlled from a single tablet.
The company has taken a layered approach to the piracy threat, with the ‘Autoprotection’ system combining automatic threat detection; warning and deterrent reponses; anti-boarding actions; and vessel and crew protection.
Speaking to reporters at the Euronaval exhibition in Paris on 28 October, Olivier Reichert, advanced studies programme director for Sagem’s optronics and defence division, explained that Autoprotection was the result of a four year initiative to provide one integrated system that a commander can control remotely.
