EU Council to approve Maritime Security Strategy action plan
This week the Council of the EU is set to approve an “Action Plan” to implement the recommendations of the EU Maritime Security Strategy that was approved in June this year.
However, speaking at the Transport Security Expo in London, Christian Dupont, deputy head of unit land and maritime security, directorate general for mobility and transport at the European Commission, warned that much still needed to be done and that the because the action plan wasn’t legally binding its implementation would be based on the goodwill of participating nations.
Dupont said that the strategy was a curious mix bringing together
