DSEI 2015: QinetiQ displays stand-off scanner

QinetiQ will display its latest generation stand-off body scanner, at this year’s DSEI exhibition in London.

It is currently in development with the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and could play a vital role in improving maritime security at ports.

Called the SPO-NX, the passive millimetre wave (PMMW) body scanner enables an operator to scan crowds at densely populated locations, including rail stations or ferry terminals, and identify possible threats such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
