Details emerge on INS Mumbai upgrade
INS Mumbai, one of three Project 15 Delhi-class destroyers of the Indian Navy (IN), is undergoing a midlife upgrade (MLU) at Mumbai’s Naval Dockyard. It is the second ship (after INS Delhi) to receive an MLU.
While only a few technical details have emerged, the full extent of the MLU is likely to follow the same pattern as that of Delhi, whose upgrade is at an advanced stage. It is part of a fleet-wide MLU programme involving several IN warship classes.
Russian combat systems on these destroyers are being replaced with newer variants or substitutions by locally sourced
