Work begins on MILVEHCOE facility build
Ground has been broken on Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s new Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Ipswich, Queensland, the Australian Department of Defence announced on 16 November.
MILVEHCOE will manage the delivery of the Australian Army’s Boxer 8x8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle under the LAND 400 Phase 2 project.
The facility will house the vehicle production line, and will also include a vehicle compliance testing track, an electromagnetic compatibility chamber, a fully-enclosed weapons test firing tunnel, vehicle storage, and refuelling and wash-down bays.
Deliveries of the Boxer vehicles will commence in 2020 with the final vehicles being delivered in 2026.
