USMC turns to Knight’s for 5.56mm suppressors
Knight's Armament Company has received a $25.65 million sole-source contract from US Marine Corps Systems Command for 5.56mm small arms suppressors.
These will be used on the Heckler & Koch M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (pictured) plus two Colt Defense weapons: the M4 carbine and M4A1 CQB weapon.
Work will be performed in Titusville, Florida, with an expected completion date of 20 September 2027.
Shephard reported in June that the USMC is expanding its small arms inventory as part of the Force 2030 programme, with procurement of 8,000 more M27 rifles in 2020 alone.
