UK MoD gives go-ahead for WCSP
The UK’s Ministry of Defence has selected Lockheed Martin (LM) UK as prime contractor for the £1 billion Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP), it was announced earlier today.
The WCSP is designed to upgrade the British Army’s Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle in order to extend its service life beyond 2040, according to officials from LM.
The company was the sole remaining bidder in the competition following the rejection of a BAE Systems bid earlier in the year. A final decision had originally been expected in 2010 but was extended due to funding issues.
