SOFIC 2016: Military freefall technology solutions

US Armed Forces continue to seek opportunities across the battlefield with ruggedised End User Devices (EUDs) and associated software, designed to enhance the effectiveness of specialist troops ranging from combat medics through to Special Operations Forces.

The US Air Force’s Battlefield Airmen Special Projects Office (SPO) is currently evaluating technology solutions designed to enable Military Freefall (MFF) parachutists to more accurately descend onto designated Drop Zones (DZs), Shephard has learnt.

The SPO has already tested Battlefield Airmen Technology including Panasonic’s Toughpad FZ-M1 tablet with Man-Machine software suite; Tactical ROVER-e and ROVER-p handhelds; SADL radio; Secure GPS; Pocket Rangefinder and AN/PRC-152A
