Small Diameter Bomb launched from MLRS
Saab and Boeing Weapons and Missile Systems have conducted the first ground-launch of Boeing’s GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb I.
Originally developed for delivery by aircraft, the recent ground-launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) live fire demonstration showed that the system can be adapted for launch from an artillery system.
Under a teaming agreement signed by Saab and Boeing in August 2014, the Small Diameter Bomb I was integrated to an M26 Multiple Launch Rocket System rocket motor with an inter-stage adapter. Nammo provide the rocket motor used in the test.
The firing demonstration occurred in February at Sweden’s Vidsel
