Russian marines to receive new BTR-82A APCs
Marine units of the Russian Navy’s Caspian Flotilla stationed in Dagestan are set to receive ten new BTR-82A armoured personal carriers (APCs).
BTR-82A APC is a modernised and modified version of the BTR-80. The vehicle's main weapon is a 30mm automatic gun and 7.62mm PKTM machine gun.
The vehicle's ballistic protection is mounted on the internal surfaces. The gunner’s place has been moved from the turret to the hull for improved crew protection. All seats are energy-absorbing. The vehicle is also equipped with a modernised fire suppression system.
The vehicles are also equipped with fifth-generation digital secure radio sets, topographic navigation systems and combined observation instruments.
BTR-82A APCs are being delivered as part of the Russian military's 2020 rearmament programme.
