Russian Boomerang to hit in 2017
A new 8x8 armoured vehicle family is set to enter the Russian Army’s inventory from 2017 called Boomerang.
Field testing is already taking place on the vehicle, which is being built by the Military Industrial Company (MIC) of Russia that will gradually replace the BTR-90, which was initially designed in 1993 as a larger version of the BTR-80 vehicle.
It is expected that about 50-70 vehicles a year will be built and will be delivered first to frontline units, in particular airborne troops.
