Russia to develop new shells for Armata tank
Armata, a new generation of the Russian T-14 tank, has been displayed for the first time at the WW2 Victory Day parade in Moscow.
It is being built as part of a Russian army modernisation effort. However according to Russian defence analysts, the Russian army may have problems providing shells for the tank. It is expected that the first new vehicles will be fitted with 125mm, but then this will change to 152mm.
Ruslan Pukhov, head of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, a Russian analytical agency stated: ‘Russia currently experiences a problem with gunpowder and ammunition.
