Rosoboronexport launches amphibious tank
Rosoboronexport has launched the Sprut-SDM1 light amphibious tank built by the Tractor Plants Concern for the Russian and export market.
The Sprut-SDM1 has a powerful armament suite and is equipped with a 125mm gun, a 7.62mm remote-controlled machine gun and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun.
The vehicle is equipped with a guided missile weapon system for the engagement of armoured targets at ranges up to 5km. Its highly automated digital fire control system allows target detection, recognition and engagement on the move and while stationary, in poor visibility conditions, day or night, using different types of gunner and commander sights.
The amphibious tank is designed to provide a high level of protection for its crew. The vehicle’s low weight and ability to cross water obstacles afloat ensure a high level of terrain passability. It is capable of fighting in the highlands and hot tropical climate, and firing its gun while afloat.
