Raytheon, Lechmotoren to produce Patriot system generators
Raytheon will partner with Lechmotoren, a Jenoptik subsidiary, to produce power generators for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense system, it announced on 24 April.
As part of this new agreement, Jenoptik will build power generators, power plants, test equipment and spares for a Patriot system global partner. The two companies are also discussing opportunities for supplying power generation equipment to two additional Patriot partner nations, including one from NATO.
Ralph Acaba, vice president of integrated air and missile defence, Raytheon, said: 'Raytheon looks forward to continuing its meaningful partnership with Jenoptik well into the future. This effort underscores our ongoing commitment to deepen existing, and develop new, partnerships with German industry.
'The 13-nation global Patriot network offers Jenoptik and other industry partners access to an export market of established users worldwide – an opportunity unique to the Patriot system.'
Michael Mertin, president and CEO, Jenoptik, added: 'This order is another milestone to us in the long-term partnership between Raytheon and Jenoptik.
'We are convinced that we can continue to contribute to the Patriot success story with our innovative products. Jenoptik is currently developing a new hybrid power supply for the Patriot system, after proving the functionality of the power supply's prototype in March 2015.'
