USMC prepares for precision fires down-select
The USMC is preparing to choose a vendor in 2021 for its Organic Precision Fires – Mounted (OPF-M) programme that will provide a loitering munition system to attack targets at range.
It is expected that a family of systems will be acquired to provide the USMC Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion with its own indirect fire support assets with ranges out to 100km.
USMC Systems Command spokesperson Kelly Flynn stated: ‘We are evaluating proposals at this time in preparation for a down-select to a single vendor. Integration and testing will include the selected vendor’s system.’
