The Military Industrial Company (Voyenno-Promishlennaya Kompaniya, VPK) in Russia has revealed details about its Strela (‘Arrow’) light air-transportable armoured car.

A base model, its amphibious variant and buggy variant for the Russian Airborne Forces will be officially presented at the Army 2020 show near Moscow on 23-29 August. Afterwards, all vehicles will undergo state trials.

Developers of Strela focused on protection and air transportability, using COTS components from VPK parent company GAZ.

In terms of protection, the vehicle can resist 2kg of TNT under its wheels or beneath the hull. This is a significant leap forward in comparison
