Germany gives green light for new active protection on Leopards
The budget committee of the German parliament has approved funds to improve the survivability of Leopard 2 MBTs operated by the army.
Having been authorised to award contracts, the German MoD plans to procure the Trophy active protection system from Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
The MoD announced the approval in late January. In a press release, it highlighted that Trophy can significantly reduce the threat posed by ATGMs and small arms.
