Polish armed forces acquire 175 ambulances
The Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND) has procured 175 multi-carrier sanitary vehicles to equip the National Armed Forces. These ambulances will be able to travel on all types of roads and off-road and will be used in evacuation missions for all levels of medical support.
The PLN 166 million ($43 million) contract was announced on 21 October on the MND website. The agreement includes the option to order additional vehicles, to a maximum of 202 platforms.
The sanitary multi-carrier vehicles will be manufactured based on the Iveco chassis, with a permanent 4x4 drive system and an engine power of 132 kW.
They will enable the transport of four casualties lying down or three lying down and with two seated.
Medical equipment will include a stretcher, cardiology chair, semi-automatic portable defibrillator and a portable ventilator.
