Poland receives first Rak mortar systems
The Polish Army has formally accepted the first batch of eight 120 mm self-propelled mortar Rak systems and four command post vehicles (AWD).
Delivery of the vehicles – based on Rosomak 8x8 platform – was preceded by qualification tests and training of crews and service personnel with systems manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW).
Soldiers from the 17 Mechanised Brigade's 1st Mechanised Battalion based in Miedzyrzecze were the first to use the new Rak mortars. The second batch will be sent to the 12 Mechanised Brigade in Szczecin, with delivery planned for the last quarter of 2017.
