Poland orders more Grot rifles
The Polish MoD has ordered 18,000 more MSBS Grot (‘Arrowhead’) rifles for the country’s army from FB Łucznik – Radom.
Deliveries will take place from 2020 to 2026 under the PLN177 million ($44.65 million) contract, the MoD announced on 8 July.
‘My ambition is for the Polish Army to be equipped with the MSBS Grot as a basic rifle,’ said Polish Minister of Defence Mariusz Błaszczak.
The army already has about 37,000 Grot rifles in its inventory, delivered under a contract placed with FB Łucznik – Radom in September 2017.
‘The point is for young soldiers to acquire habits related to the use of weapons precisely on the basis of this modern Polish weapon - MSBS Grot, and not for weapons that come from the Communist era,’ said Błaszczak.
Last year, according to the MoD, 60% of the Polish defence procurement contracts were awarded to local industry.
