The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) started distributing their new Remington 5.56mm M4A1 carbines on 12 August.

A ceremony at AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Manila highlighted the milestone of the Assault Rifle Acquisition Project in improving the firepower of the AFP.

A total of 50,629 R4 carbines (Remington’s version of the M4A1) are being supplied to the Philippine Army and Philippine Marine Corps by the Remington Outdoor Company at a unit price of approximately $860.

A total of 27,300 weapons had been delivered to the Philippines by 31 July, with the balance due for delivery in December.
