Patria introduces autonomous capability for AMVs
Patria and partner Diehl Defence have developed a new fully digitalised autonomous variant of its Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) 8x8 vehicle, the company announced on 24 September.
The new vehicle has been integrated with drive-by-wire control system that enables the use of remote and autonomous functions while keeping standard driver operated operation possible.
The autonomous variant of the Patria AMV is capable of performing driving tasks without being manually operated. The autonomous capability for the vehicle has been designed and executed in such a way that it can be integrated to all existing and already delivered Patria AMV 8x8 vehicles, without compromising the vehicles’ manual operation.
The company is currently demonstrating the new variant at the European Land Robot Trial event in Belgium where it is being used in a autonomous leader-follower convoy scenario.
