New vehicles for French special forces
Renault Trucks Defense (RTD) has received an order from the French defence procurement agency (DGA) for Light Special Forces Vehicles and Heavy Special Forces Vehicles, the company has announced.
The company will deliver 241 of the light vehicle variants and 202 of the heavy variant integrated with intelligence and communications equipment, with associated support elements.
The vehicles will equip land, air and marine special force units, giving them a new capability for intelligence or neutralisation missions within hostile areas. The vehicles will replace the current fleet of vehicles, which has seen regular engagement in operations.
The first 25 Heavy Special Forces Vehicles will be delivered in 2016 to fill an urgent need, and the first light vehicles will be delivered from 2018.
