MSPO 2018: Poland pursues tank fleet modernisation
The Polish Ministry of Defence (MoD) is continuing efforts to strengthen its MBT fleet with the signing of a deal for the modernisation of additional Leopard 2A4 tanks alongside analysis of options to upgrade legacy T-72M1/M1D tanks.
An additional 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks will be modernised under an agreement reached in June 2018 worth around PLN300 million ($81 million).
The June contract was signed between the Armaments Inspectorate and the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and its subsidiary, ZM Bumar-Labedy, which is the leading contractor in the Polish Leopard 2 modernisation programme.
