MSPO 2016: Warsaw provides clarity on Wisla, sort of
After a week of mixed messages from the Polish government about its purchase of a new air-and-missile defence system, Warsaw has reiterated its intention to keep its options open.
Industry was expecting to receive official confirmation about the Wisła programme during the MSPO exhibition in Kielce from 6-9 September, particularly US contractor Raytheon, which was officially selected for the requirement in April 2015 with its Patriot missile system.
Indeed, Patriot was given official affirmation on the first day of MSPO when Poland’s defence minister Antoni Macierewicz said he was formally submitting a letter of request (LoR) to the US
