Malaysian Guardians to watch over peacekeepers
The Malaysian battalion of peacekeepers in Lebanon will replace its fleet of 46 4x4 Condor APCs with International Armored Group (IAG) Guardian APCs, which will be provided by IAG’s Malaysian partner Weststar Defence.
MALBATT 850-5 is currently operating under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Malaysian Deputy Defence Minister Johari Baharum earlier stated during a visit to Lebanon in September that nine Guardian APCs will arrive in Lebanon in mid-December and be operational by January 2018.
