Mack, JWF partner for Lakota assembly
Mack Defense has entered into a partnership with JWF Defense Systems for the assembly of the former's Lakota 6x6 vehicle system and production of the vehicle’s armoured hull, it was announced on 6 June.
The Mack Defense Lakota 6x6 vehicle features a US built engine and transmission, has a range of up to 1,400 miles and maximum on-road speed of 62mph. It is available in five configurations and can transport up to 12 personnel. It is serviceable across the Volvo Group global support network.
Ryan Werling, president, Mack Defense, said: ‘We look forward to working with JWF Defense Systems on the assembly of these vehicle solutions along with production of their armoured hulls. JWF Defense has a long tradition of supporting the US Department of Defense, and we are excited to have them as part of our team. In addition to the partnership for the Lakota, we also believe there is an opportunity for JWF to participate in the assembly of other armoured vehicle programmes that we are pursuing around the globe.
‘The Lakota 6x6 delivers the capabilities of an 8x8, but at a fraction of the cost. The Lakota 6x6 is a compelling offer for any customer. The Lakota’s capabilities were tested and showcased in multiple locations throughout the US, including California, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Not only did the Lakota meet our performance expectations, but it exceeded them in many areas.’
