Kuwait requests Abrams equipment
The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential foreign military sale of M1A1 Abrams tanks to Kuwait, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 16 October.
In a package worth up to $29 million, Kuwait has requested 218 M1A1 Abrams tank hulls with 120mm cannons and 218 AGT-1500 (M1 Tank Series) engines in support of its M1A2 tank recapitalisation programme.
Transport and logistics support is also included in the request.
If the sale goes ahead the tank hulls will come from existing US Army inventory.
