IDF takes on new AS60 shoulder-launched weapon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems have signed an agreement for the acquisition of thousands of new lightweight shoulder-fired rockets for the infantry.
These were specially adapted for the needs of the IDF after a development process that lasted last two years. The weight reduction is meant to allow infantrymen greater flexibility in the field during land manoeuvres.
Designed to be shoulder-launched and disposable, the new AS60 weapon is a light anti-structural rocket with a range of 300m. It weighs less than 7kg and can penetrate 20cm of reinforced concrete and detonate within.
