Indo Defence 2016: Infantry weapon prototypes unveiled

The Indonesian Army has developed two new prototype infantry weapons that the service wants to test to see if they can enter production.

Both displayed at the Indo Defence exhibition in Jakarta, the first is a light machine gun and the second is a standard assault rifle.

According to the army, the light machine gun is known as the Prototype I Automatic Weapon. The weapon fires 5.56mm x 45mm ammunition in a belt feed system from an ammunition box that can carry 200 rounds. The barrel length is 508mm with the total length of the weapon slated at 950mm.
