First UK-made British Army Boxer rolled out
The first batch of 623 Boxer ordered were built in Germany with the majority of the work now done in West Midlands and North-East Wales.
Indian company MKU will start ballistic helmet deliveries in June after it won an order for 158,000 units for the Indian Army late last year. The procurement will be completed within three years.
Soldiers presently use bulky and heavy 2.5kg helmets. There is potential for around 300,000 more such helmets, an army official said.
The order includes 50,000 communications helmets made from advanced aramid composites manufactured and integrated by MKU. MKU’s facility in Kanpur can produce 15,000 helmets a month.
