Indian Army plans integrated battlegroups
The Indian Army, in an endeavour to advance operational competency and to counter plummeting budgets, is making swift restructuring moves as part of Land Warfare Doctrine 2018. A major effort is being put into integrated battlegroups (IBG) to be positioned facing the western and northern borders with Pakistan and China respectively.
The first two IBGs will hold exercises in May, Chief of Army Staff Bipin Rawat said at an annual press conference on 10 January.
