IDEX 2021: Al Jasoor launches Rabdan 6x6 and embeds laser with 8x8 vehicle
Al Jasoor, the JV company between Edge and Turkish vehicle manufacturer Otokar Land Systems, launched a 6x6 variant of its Rabdan IFV during the IDEX 2021 defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi on 21-25 February.
Rabdan is already available in 8x8 configuration.
The 6x6 vehicle features flexible ballistic protection capability with a modular add-on armour system, as well as an automatic fire suppression system for enhanced crew safety.
Fahad Al Absi, CEO of Al Jasoor, said: ‘Featuring high commonality with our signature 8x8 platform, the amphibious 6x6 drives down cost for our clients, meets modern warfare requirements, and optimizes value for all operational requirements.’
Shortly before IDEX, Al Jasoor also announced a collaboration with Raytheon Emirates and Raytheon Intelligence & Space to install a high-energy laser weapon system onto the Rabdan 8×8.
The laser will be integrated by fellow Edge company EARTH. The Rabdan 8x8 with laser was on display on the Edge stand during IDEX.
