Unveiled at IDEX 2019, the Falcon is a short to mid-range ground-based air defence system. The system is the result of a collaboration between prime contractor Lockheed Martin, Diehl Defence, and Saab.
The IRIS-T SL missile system, provided by Diehl Defence, is integrated with the Lockheed Martin SkyKeeper system alongside Saab’s Giraffe 4A radar which is able to detect enhanced, low, small, slow (ELSS) targets such as small UAVs.
Each of the individual components have already been tested however the Falcon has to-date only run mock fires. The companies are hoping to run a launch test some time this year.
