IDEX 2017: Nimr gets UAE vehicle order boost

The UAE Land Forces has ordered thousands of vehicles from their domestic manufacturer, Nimr, it was announced at IDEX.

Although the value of the contract was not disclosed the numbers total to over 1,750 armoured vehicles across three types. It would seem to represent a wholesale refresh of the UAE's vehicle inventory.

These include 1,500 JAIS 4x4 and 6x6 infantry fighting vehicles; 150 Hafeet 630A artillery support vehicles for both observation and C2; and 115 Ajban 440A vehicles fitted with anti-tank guided missiles.

The company stated it would deliver these vehicles to the UAE Armed Forces from 2018.
