GDA 2017: Kuwait bolsters Patriot system inventory

The delivery of additional Patriot missile firing units to the Kuwaiti armed forces is imminent, according to industry officials speaking at Gulf Defense and Aerospace in Kuwait.

The Gulf country, which was the first customer in the region for the system back in the early 90s, will receive two more systems from Raytheon, as well as Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) hit-to-kill missiles from Lockheed Martin.

The $655m contract for the two additional fire units and associated spares was announced in February 2014 by the US Department of Defense, with completion expected in April 2018.
