FN Herstal develops carbon connection plate
FN Herstal has developed a new carbon connection plate prototype made of advanced composite materials for pintle weapon systems, the company has announced.
FN Herstal has reduced the weight of the connection plate by 30% with the use of its composite materials, while maintaining the structural properties of previous versions.
The technology is applicable to all FN pintle connection plates. Connection plates are vital components in a weapon system and specific to different carrier types. They act as the interface between the carrier hard points and the weapon system, and must be capable of withstanding the weapon recoil load, crash loads and carrier vibrations.
