Eurosatory: Upgraded ATMOS artillery showcased
A new version of the ATMOS (Autonomous Truck Mounted System) 155mm 52cal self-propelled howitzer (SPH) is being displayed at Eurosatory in Paris.
Manufactured by Elbit Systems, the new variant is fitted to a Tatra vehicle chassis. The company said that the upgraded howitzer offers ranges of more than 40km using Extended Range Full Bore – Base Bleed (ERFB-BB) ammunition and the appropriate propellant charges.
It added that the gun can fire at a rate of six rounds per minute using a new load assist device that is part of a semi-automatic loading system to reduce the numbers of crew needed
