Eurosatory: Guided 155mm shell for UK?

The UK government could put out requirements for a guided 155mm artillery munition to supplement its stock of ‘dumb’ shells early next year, industry figures have indicated.

An invitation to tender (ITT) for what is known as the Tactical Guided Munitions Indirect (TGMI) programme may be released in the first quarter of 2017, with entry into service likely to be around 2021 or 2022.

Industry expects that an initial gate decision for TGMI could come in the first half of next year, with a main gate investment decision expected before the end of the decade in 2019.
