Eurosatory 2010: Lockheed Martin and Expal discuss joint venture for Spanish vehicle project
Lockheed Martin and EXPAL of Spain signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the formation of a consortium to offer the Patria AMV for the Spanish 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle (VBR ) programme.
The VBR is intended to replace Spains fleet of BMR-600 vehicles. The initial buy of 300 vehicles will include three variants: an armoured personnel carrier, a reconnaissance/cavalry vehicle and a command post. The VBR is one of several armoured vehicle projects approved by Spains Council of Ministers in November 2007 to both meet urgent operational requirements for the Spanish contingent in Afghanistan and the long term modernization
