Equations on the edge: remote computing as a battlefield enabler

The growth of a commercial silicon war is pushing the development of ever greater connectivity and capability at the edge. But there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to the equation of edge computing in the land domain.

Victory in conflict has always been about two things – what you have and what you can do with it. Whether that amounts to 10,000 extra fighters, a previously unseen mounted longbow technique, or a wooden horse just large enough to fit a slaughtering force inside, the combination of technology and the ability to maximise its use to effect has carried the day.

Today, that equation of “what you have and what you can do with it” has a distinct technological dimension. If you can access secure internet remotely and your adversary cannot then the chances are high that you win
