Enhanced Tamir extends intercept range
Testing on the Iron Dome air defence missile system has taken place using a new variant of the Tamir interceptor missile for the first time.
An Iron Dome launcher system fired the Tamir missiles which successfully hit rocket and missile targets that were launched simultaneously on a desert test range in southern Israel in late February.
Under an agreement with the US in 2014 the Tamir missile, which is a short-range interceptor for counter rockets, artillery and mortar munitions, has been adapted using more US-made components from Raytheon.
