DSEI 2017: Thales pitches new F90 rifle to Germany

Defence manufacturer Thales has set its sight on the European and NATO market for its new F90MBR modular bullpup rifle, with the company already bidding into the German Army’s rifle replacement programme.

Thales officials told Shephard at DSEI 2017 that the company had responded to a request for information released by the German MoD for its ‘System Sturmgewehr Bundeswehr’ programme that will eventually replace the Heckler & Koch G36 currently in service.

German MoD sources have previously told Shephard that it had called on ‘industry to express their interest to participate in a selection process’, and that ‘several companies’
