DSEI 2015: UK mech role for upgraded VBCI
French armoured vehicle manufacturer Nexter has unveiled a new variant of its Véhicule Blindé de Combat d'Infanterie (VBCI) 8x8 vehicle, which it sees as a potential option for a future UK mechanised vehicle requirement.
Being shown for the first time at DSEI in London, the internally developed VBCI-2 features a host of new upgrades including increased protection, a more powerful engine and increased firepower.
Speaking to reporters at the show, Nexter’s director of international affairs, Michael Duckworth said the VBCI-2 had completed demonstrations this summer to a potential customer in the Middle East.
