DSEI 2015: Scout SV becomes Ajax

The British Army’s new Scout SV tracked reconnaissance vehicle programme has been re-named Ajax.

The moves comes as manufacturer, General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) unveiled the first turret variant of the armoured vehicle family at the DSEI exhibition in London.

The turreted Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) variant is also called Ajax and leads the class of vehicles. Other five vehicle variants are named: Ares, Apollo, Atlas, Argus and Athena.

Ares is the recce support vehicle used for troop transport and provides the common base platform. Apollo is one of the two equipment support variants that will tow battle damaged
