The DSA 2018 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur witnessed a rarity on 19 April, an actual purchase contract, on this occasion for 18 LG1 Mk III 105mm towed artillery pieces for the Malaysian Army.

Under the three-year contract, first deliveries of six guns should occur by November 2019. All howitzers will be handed over to the Malaysian Army by February 2020.

The deal also includes ERG3 long-range 105mm munitions.

The guns will be operated by the 1st Royal Artillery Regiment (Para) of the 10th Parachute Brigade. This elite airborne formation of the Malaysian Army is ready to perform rapid deployments.
