DSA 2016: Scorpion can renew sting
Malaysia’s FV101 Scorpion light tank is being offered an upgrade by KSSB at the Defence Services Asia exhibition.
The company has undertaken a research and development effort on the light tank to improve its mobility and firepower. Malaysia bought 26 vehicles from UK manufacturer Alvis
A spokesperson from KSSB told Shephard that the programme started in late-2015 and was funded by the company itself in partnership with Thai manufacturer Chaiseri as a proof of concept.
According to KSSB, the original Perkins T63544 engine has been replaced by a 490kg Deutz TCD 2013 l4 4V engine 108/130mm stroke with four in-line
